Clothing care guide
Always follow the care label attached to your garment. These general checks help you plan care; they do not replace the instructions for an individual item.
Before washing
Read the full label, including washing, drying and ironing instructions. Empty pockets, check fastenings and separate items with different care requirements. Do not assume a fabric name alone tells you how to wash a finished garment.
Washing and stain treatment
Use the method permitted by the label. Follow the detergent and machine instructions too. Before treating a stain, check that the treatment suits the garment and test in an inconspicuous area when appropriate.
Drying and ironing
Check the permitted drying method before you start the wash. Dry flat when instructed. Only tumble dry, iron or steam if the label allows it, using the indicated settings.
Storage
Let clothes dry fully before storing. Choose folding or hanging to suit the garment and avoid pulling delicate or heavy pieces out of shape.
When instructions are missing, ask us before washing. For a fuller routine, read what to check on a care label.
